Industrial Symbiosis Simulation Engine

Most waste-valorisation claims are estimates dressed up as analysis. Our simulation engine computes a waste stream's behaviour from first principles instead of assuming it — and it is built to say "cannot determine" when the underlying chemistry does not support a confident answer.

First-principles, not estimates

The engine combines a flowsheet-level mass and energy solver with aqueous-electrolyte chemistry and thermophysical property models, so a waste stream's composition and behaviour are computed from thermodynamics rather than looked up in a table of averages.

That means the output changes when the input chemistry changes — a stream with a different sulphate load, moisture content, or trace-metal profile produces a different, traceable result, not a rounded industry-average figure.

It tells you what it cannot prove

We show you what is measured, what is simulated, and what we refuse to assert. Every figure in a valorisation report carries a provenance label — Measured, Simulated, or Reconciled — and a field that cannot be determined from the available data is reported as exactly that, not filled in with a plausible number.

Worked case: red gypsum to plasterboard

A red-gypsum by-product was evaluated against published recycled-gypsum acceptance criteria used by the plasterboard and cement industries (Eurogypsum quality criteria; EN 197-1 cement standard). The simulation surfaced a real composition gap — the feed's iron and sulphate ratio did not match the published criteria the receiving process expects — rather than assuming the stream would pass.

Candidate receivers were identified through the EU's public E-PRTR industrial-facility registry, and acceptance was checked against those published receiver criteria, not against a client-supplied or self-reported figure. No proprietary dataset and no dollar values factor into this public case study.

Send us a waste stream and we will run it through the engine and tell you, honestly, what recovery routes it supports and what remains unresolved.
